Welcome
Lewes Boccia was formed after a search for a local Boccia club for my son proved fruitless. There were teams playing Boccia, but they were based in schools and residential placements, and therefore were unsuitable for an outsider to join.
The sport of Boccia (pronounced Bot-cha) is a fun, exciting and easy to play paralympic sport which was adapted originally for people with cerebral palsy, but is now open to other disabilities. It is similar to lawn bowls, with a white 'jack' played first then the teams or individuals balls being played. The player or team with their balls closest to the 'jack' at the end win. ALL players are seated, which makes this a fantastic inclusive sport! Players can throw, kick or roll balls down a ramp to play. Head pointers are available for those with limited movement elsewhere to push the ball down the ramp.
Lewes Boccia provides a safe playing enviroment and relaxed social atmosphere. We are building a regular membership with the prospect of entering tournaments for those that show an interest in doing so. Most of all we just want to play Boccia and have fun with similar minded individuals!
We are a member of and fully trained by Boccia England (our National Governing organisation).
People of any age and any physical impairment are welcome to come along and try this fun, exciting and easy to learn sport out for yourself!
